I was having one of those mornings where you lose sight of the moment and your focus expands to the finish line of your tasks at hand.

Life is a funny thing. It’s an ever-going marathon, yet no one knows where his or her finish line is. We just keep running and running, hoping we still have a long way to go. We do whatever we can to prolong the run, but sometimes despite our best efforts, the marathon is cut short. So many of us are only concerned about the distance we are traveling, we lose focus of what’s going on during the run. And this is the important part, so take advantage. Stretch some personal boundaries, work outside of your comfort zone, try something new. There will be bumps along the road, shortcuts, and paths that lead into dead ends. These are all parts of the journey; how you deal with them will determine where you go in life. Remember, we don’t always determine the distance, but we can determine the path.

It seems like it was yesterday when we were running to the theatre to go see First Blood and of course the classic Rocky VI.

I was overly impressed with his latest movie as it was full of critical life lessons.  

There comes a time where we are all tested in life.  We are tested for our values, we are tested for our integrity, we are tested for who we say we are.  

The sign of a persons true character is one that does not put their spirit up for sale when life comes knocking on their door.  

In the last 2 years, life: market – economy, has been knocking on our door on a daily basis.  

It is amazing how many people have sold their integrity, their values and their name just because times got though.  

Then there are the few, who have also fallen, but refused to stay down.  Refuse to sell their integrity and name no matter what circumstances they face.  

It’s just not an option.

Life can take away anything at anytime.  But there is only one thing that it cannot take away, one thing that only you have to be willing to give away.  

That my friends is your name. Never forget, it’s just not an option.

The Ironman is one of the ultimate challenges a person can face, not only for its immense physical training but more so for its mental training.

The Ironman to me stands for finishing what you started, to do what you set out to do; and that is the essence of one’s character.

Every individual that has completed an Ironman has in no doubt inspired another to hold on to and chase a dream one day longer.

It inspires us to imagine the possible.

You might not be the fastest or even faster than the one in front of you, but definitely you will be faster than the one who never started.

• Never give up.
